Wednesday, February 23rd was our Cactus Cats’ Invitational hosted here at home. The winners were: “A” Flight, lst low net, Sheila Webb (51) “B” Flight, 2nd low gross, Carol Parno (72); and Rita Van Winkle won the raffle.
Everyone had a good time.
The next “away play” tournament was at Palm Desert Greens on March 17th. The next “at home” play was March 18th. The winners will be announced in the next Spectrum. There was a meeting after play and elections were held.
The new officers will be reported in the next Spectrum.
Meet in the Room by the ProShop no later than 7:00 a.m. begin play ASAP. There will be a meeting in the Clubhouse immediately after play. No more Signups in the Caddyshack and no more Pairings ahead of time. If you think there might be a “Frost Delay,” it is your responsibility to call the ProShop. If the ProShop says yes, meet at 7:30 a.m. to play at 8:00 a.m.

There was a meeting held immediately after play. The Minutes are posted in the Caddy shack. Volunteers for the various jobs for the February Invitational were discussed. Pairings in the future will be handled the morning of play by drawing a number to determine the hole you will begin play.
The next At Home play will be February 16th. Meet in the room by the Pro Shop no later than 7:00 a.m. begin play ASAP. There will be a meeting in the Clubhouse immediately after play. February 23rd is our Invitational Cactus Cats Tournament. Various players from all 5 of the other Clubs will come here for breakfast, a fun tournament, catered lunch and prizes. We will report on this event next month.

The November 19th meeting was held even though our course was not open yet. Barbara Grundy agreed to be the “Away Play” person…thanks to Maxine Spence for last year’s work. See Bonnie Treece for a Cactus Cats golf shirt. A Committee was formed to plan our Invitational on Wednesday, February 23rd. “Away Play:” Players will be determined by lottery on the following criteria: a) checked against the year before for those who have not played away the previous year; b) those that did play, but did not play the current course invitational; c) everyone else that has signed up. If you play you will be assigned section “C” for all the next draws. BUT please sign up for all the “Away Plays” that you want. If you have already played, sign up on an Alternates’ Sheet.It was decided to cap membership at 70. Dues for the 2011-2012 Season will be $10.00 and must be paid by November 1 of each year.
“Away Play” dates: Oasis Country Club, January 20th; Portola February 7th; Tri Palms February 23rd; Palm Desert Greens March 17th; and Date Palm April 11th.

Our first meeting was held on Friday, November 19th! It was great seeing everyone.Our first away tournament will be played at Ivey Ranch on Monday, Dec. 6th. We will report on the winners in the next Spectrum.
The January Away Invitational will be held at Oasis Country Club on Thursday, January 20th. Look for the sign up sheet in the Caddyshack around the 20th of this month. Remember that we are choosing away players by lottery, so sign up for all the away tournaments you wish to play – even if you have already played this year or you played Oasis last year.
We will have two more meetings before our Invitational for planning, please bring your ideas and yourselves to these meetings. Hosting an Invitational is a requirement for each club in Cactus Cats. So, it is very important that we have as many Tri-Palms participants as possible…and it is lots of fun! Please sign up to play.
For “at home” play, always meet in the North parking lot no later than 7:15 a.m. and shotgun ASAP. There almost always is a meeting in the clubhouse after golfing (about 10:30 – 11:00 a.m.) Check the Caddyshack for Rennaye’s signup sheet and pairings. 1. November 1, 2010 – DUES $8.00 payable November 1st and delinquent November 15th, with a $2.00 penalty. Give your dues to Rosemary Schuster or Sandy Barbon.
2. November 19, 2010 – OUR FIRST GENERAL MEETING will be held in the club house, approximately 10:30 – 11:00am. We are unsure at this time if we will play golf before our meeting, due to the Century Course not scheduled to reopen until Nov. 20th. Keep checking the Caddy Shack bulletin board for ongoing updates.

Here it is October and the start of another great season right around the corner. Hope every-one had a great summer and you are looking forward to some fun golf.HERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT DATES TO PUT ON YOUR CALENDAR.
1. November 1, 2010 - Dues are payable and delinquent November 15th, with a $2.00 pen-alty.
2. November 12th - Our first home play is changed to the SECOND Friday. This will ac-commodate the Guy’s & Doll’s Tournament for November, which will be on the third Fri-day (with Thanksgiving being the fourth Friday that month) so please make a note on your calendar for that change. Our first general meeting will be held after play in the club house, approximately 10:30 – 11:00am. We meet in the North parking lot no later than 7:15 a.m. and shotgun ASAP. Check the Caddyshack for Rennaye’s signup sheet and pairings. If you need to cancel, please call Rennaye Millard at (760) 343-3101. If you are a “no show” you will be fined $5. Always play from the In Ground Markers.
3. February 23, 2011. Cactus Cats Invitational hosted by Tri-Palms. Hosting and Invi-tational is a requirement for each club in Cactus Cats. So, it is very important that we have as many Tri-Palms participants as possible…and it is lots of fun!
Below are the dates for the Cactus Cats away play Invitationals. The list is also posted in the Caddyshack. Sign up for all you would like to play. The Invitational’s are always a lot of fun, cost $35.00 to $40.00 and breakfast, lunch and money prizes. We will be doing the selections by a lottery system this year and that will be ex-plained at the November meeting.

The meeting in April was our last meeting of the season. Our snowbirds have left or will be leaving soon and summer is around the corner – even if the weather hasn’t felt that way yet.Our last away play for the season was at Desert Crest on March 16th. Everyone had a fun day and we had some winners! Congratulations to the following:

It was announced that our 3-Par/Regulation Christmas Party will be held at The Classic Club, December 9, 2010. Details will be discussed at our November meeting. ALSO, 3-Par we will host the Guys & Dolls Tournament on Friday, December 10, 2010. Looks like a great year is shaping up!!
President Carol thanked all the ladies on the Board, for their help and contributions and provided cup cakes and ice cream for our final meeting, wishing everyone a great summer.
Play will continue on Tuesdays through the month of June. Check on the Caddy Shack bulletin board for announcement of Play check in and starting times.
