April 2011
Citizens on Patrol (COP) is actively seeking volunteers to assist in keeping Tri-Palm Estates a Safe, Clean, and Beautiful community. To volunteer, one should be of good character and have interest in these ideas. Likewise monetary donations are always needed to enhance the effectiveness of COP. To volunteer or donate, please call the COP office at 760-343-2525. Leave a message and a representative will contact you.Citizens on Patrol would like to say "Thank You" to Riverside County Code Enforcement for having sponsored a Community Clean Up in Thousand Palms last month and providing trash receptacles for our resident to dispose of trash, junk, and unneeded items. Spring cleaning time is upon us, and spring time brings weeds and overgrowth of landscapes. COP encourages Tri-Palm residents to evaluate the condition of their property, and remove weeds, tall grass, overgrown vegetation, and undesirable stored items from their property. Likewise, please remember that Riverside County Ordinance requires all vehicles that are dismantled, wrecked, or otherwise not running be stored inside of a completely enclosed and permitted building such as a garage. These activities will help guarantee Tri-Palm Estates to be a clean and beautiful place to live.
All Tri-Palm residents are encouraged to assist COP in watching for, and reporting any suspicious activities in our community to the Riverside County Sheriff Department. Likewise COP promotes residents to protect their property with alarm systems, protective ornaments, appropriate landscaping, and participation in your neighbor watch. With the assistance of all, our community will continue to be safe, alleviate crime, and promote a secure neighbor-hood. Many hours of hard work and commitment on the part COP has come to light with the addition of multiple new speed limit signs displayed in our community. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is responsible for enforcing the 25 MPH speed limit, as well as the 72 hour parking limitation on Tri-Palm streets. "Thank you" to our CHP representative, Officer Craig Rentel, for keeping our streets safe and orderly. Officer Rentle is in the COP office from noon to 2:00PM on the first Thursday of each month. His is next scheduled visit is April 7, 2011. Please stop by to visit with him and address any concerns you may have.
COP hopes all our residents enjoy a happy Spring, encourages celebration of the Easter Sea-son, and wishes the best to our residents leaving for the summer.
Citizens on Patrol meets the third Thursday of each month at 7 PM in the clubhouse.

"Thank you" to all Tri-Palm residents for maintaining their property in an attractive, pleasant, and healthy condition.
Tri-Palm residents are very fortunate to have two fenced and locked areas available to store recreational vehicles at little or no cost. Unfortunately, these lots and the RV's stored on them have recently been broken into several times. COP encourages residents to watch for and report any suspicious activities on theses lots to Riverside County Sheriff Department. With the assistance of all, these lots can continue to be a valuable asset to our community.

January 2011
Our meeting with the Sheriff’s representatives on November 23rd was very positive and some concerns were clarified as far as what forms need filling out for their records. It is important to understand at this time all aspects of our association with the Sheriff for patrolling in Tri Palms in their cars has not changed. Vicki Beauchamp and Harry Wareham are still scheduling patrols with those members who are available just as always. As all of us know when we first joined COP and filled out the RSVP forms we had to state our driver’s license number and our auto insurance verification. This information will have to be updated periodically as we are doing now, and we will keep you informed as to how often it is needed. Our monthly meetings will be held on the 3rd Thursday of the month October thru April.Craig Rentel, our CHP representative, for the Citizens Outreach Program will be here the 1st Thursday of the month, January 6th, from Noon to 2 pm. Please stop by with any questions, observations, or a thank you for the support he and the CHP gives us to maintain safe streets in our community. We have had a few incidents of home invasion robberies and strongly recommend locking your premises at night or if you are gone for any length of time. It also reminds us of the importance of Neighborhood Watch. Report any strange activity to the following telephone numbers. Telephone numbers to reach the CHP for motor vehicle issues is 760-772-8911 (Weekdays) and 760-772-8900 (Nights after 5 pm and weekends). The Sheriff for other issues 836-3215 Dispatch or 836-1600 Office. Call 911 for any true emergency.
OUR NEXT MEETING IS THURSDAY, JANUARY 20TH @ 5 PM IN THE CLUBHOUSE FOR POT LUCK DINNER
December 2010
We have had a recent meeting with the Sheriff’s Department and need to meet with them some more to completely understand the new procedures. We willhave had another meeting, November 23rd and will cover this with more clarity in the January Spectrum. Until then let’s patrol to schedule and do our best to be extra eyes & ears for our community. Again we want to thank Terry Schufelt, Patty Mealey, George Rigden, and Christine Viau for their support now and especially during the summer months.Craig Rentel, our CHP representative, for the Citizens Outreach Program will be here the 1st Thursday of the month, December 2nd, from Noon to 2 PM. Please stop by with any questions, observations, or a thank you for the support he and the CHP gives us to maintain safe streets in our community. November 2010
We are off and patrolling more frequently for the season. At the September 30th Thousand Palms Community Council meeting Laurie Hardcastle, County Sheriffs Department, announced she was being transferred out of Thousand Palms. We will certainly miss her as she has been a dedicated member of the Department on behalf of Thousand Palms for many years. The Sheriff also reported that they have made some excellent progress in reducing crime within our community and appreciate working with COP and the availability of the office supplied by The Club at Shenandoah Springs. To maintain our visibility by as many patrols day and evening as we can accomplish we need your help by volunteering to drive or ride for a couple of shifts per month. We firmly believe, like seeing “Black & Whites” patrolling our neighborhood, the same deterrent effect is accomplished by the marked COP cars patrolling. With the help of Neighborhood Watch and everyone paying attention we can help maintain a safe community by reporting unusual things to the Sheriff. Telephone numbers to reach the Sheriff are 760-836-3215 (Dispatch) or 760-836-1600 (Office), if a true emergency call 911.

Telephone numbers to reach the CHP are 760-772-8911 (Weekdays) and 760-772-8900 (Nights after 5 PM and Weekends).
